Lithuania wants to support Ukraine with a further military package in the defensive fight against the Russian invasion. This was announced by head of government Ingrida Šimonytė in Kiev at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Polish head of state Andrzej Duda, as reported by the Unian agency. "Lithuania's position is well-known and simple: Ukraine must win, Russia must lose," she was quoted as saying.

Kiev is to receive around 5,000 drones from Lithuania in the fall. In addition to ammunition and weapons, air defense systems, missiles and drone defense equipment are to be delivered by the beginning of September. Lithuania is also providing 35 million euros for the purchase of radar equipment and mine detection equipment, said Šimonytė. The value of the new military package was not disclosed.

The Baltic EU and NATO member Lithuania is one of Ukraine's most committed supporters. Until May alone, Lithuania provided military aid amounting to around 640 million euros.
