The disappearance of a 42-year-old woman in Sardinia has been unsolved for several weeks. Now there are increasing signs that she was killed by her husband. He was arrested on Friday for premeditated murder. A judge has now confirmed his detention, as reported by "il Giornale " and others.
Although no body has yet been found, investigators have gathered a number of "serious clues" against the suspect. For example, he had sent messages from her cell phone after his wife disappeared.
Friends and relatives had received messages in which she wrote that she needed distance because of relationship problems. But she didn't want to talk to anyone on the phone. And her employer received an email from her dismissal.
The suspect maintains his innocence. His lawyer says: "There is no evidence of a homicide. And so far there is no evidence that our client used his wife's cell phone or sent the email."
The investigation will continue until the trial. In the meantime, the shared house and the cars have been confiscated.
