According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Ramallah, at least 18 people were killed when an Israeli warplane attacked a café in the town of Tulkarm in the north of the West Bank.

The number of injured was initially unclear. According to reports, many people were still under the rubble. It was the first air strike of its kind in the West Bank for years.

According to reports in the Palestinian media, the attack was aimed at members of the local branch of the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization. Its leader Gaith Radwan was among the dead.

The Israeli army confirmed the attack. According to them, it was aimed at the head of Hamas in Tulkarm, Sahi Jasser Abd al-Rasegh Ufi. He had been involved in numerous attacks on Israelis. Other members of the terrorist network were also killed in Tulkarm.

According to Palestinian figures, more than 700 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank, which has been occupied by Israel since 1967, since the start of the Gaza war almost a year ago. They died in battles with the army, in attempted attacks on Israelis and at the hands of radical Israeli settlers.
