Israel Media: Hamas calls for "suicide operations"

According to Arab media, Hamas has called for a resumption of suicide bombings.

It was therefore a reaction to Israel's large-scale military operation in the West Bank and the ongoing attacks in the Gaza Strip. According to the Arabic broadcaster Sky News Arabia, Hamas leader Chaled Mashaal called for a "return of suicide operations" at a conference in the Turkish metropolis of Istanbul on Wednesday evening.

The current situation calls for an "open conflict", said Mashaal. He called on Hamas supporters to "take part in the actual resistance against the Zionist entity (Israel) on several fronts".

Israel began a large-scale military operation in the northern West Bank on Wednesday. An Israeli army spokesman justified the action, in which, according to Palestinian reports, eleven people were killed on Wednesday alone, with the significant increase in the number of attacks on Israelis. At the same time, violence by extremist Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank has also increased.

The situation in the West Bank has worsened significantly since the start of the Gaza war following the Hamas massacre on October 7, 2023. Since then, 635 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli military operations, confrontations or their own attacks in the West Bank, according to the Ministry of Health.
