There were at least two fatalities, Ukrainian media reported, citing the military administrations of the district and the city. Up to five people could be trapped under the rubble of the building and rescue work is continuing. The Russians had hit the hotel with a ballistic missile, the city administration said. The information could not be independently verified.

The industrial city of Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region is the birthplace of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression two and a half years ago, the military has repeatedly shelled the town in the south.

In July, the military administration of Kryvyi Rih reported at least 10 dead and more than 30 injured after several shells hit the town. In March, there were also deaths and dozens of injuries when a house in a residential area in Kryvyi Rih was hit by a Russian missile attack.
