During a speech in the US Congress, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vehemently rejected his own responsibility for the humanitarian plight of the people in the Gaza Strip. "If there are Palestinians in Gaza who are not getting enough food, it is not because Israel is blockading them. It is because Hamas is stealing it," said Netanyahu.

Israel had done a lot to get Palestinian civilians out of the danger zone and protect them. Hamas, on the other hand, is doing everything in its power to put civilians in the sealed-off coastal strip in danger.

As its most important ally, the USA is urging Israel to increase humanitarian aid in Gaza and improve the protection of the civilian population.
