AHV and IV pensioners with supplementary benefits who are in need of assistance should be able to live at home more often thanks to support. For example, help with household chores is to be supported. Parliament can now decide on the necessary amendments to the law.

On Friday, the Federal Council adopted the dispatch on amending the law on supplementary benefits for old-age, survivors' and disability insurance. According to the Federal Council, there is a need to be able to live in one's own home for as long as possible despite old age, illness or disability.
The additional costs for the cantons are estimated at around CHF 340 to 730 million for 2030. In contrast, the cantons will be able to save around CHF 280 million because fewer people will have to be admitted to a care home. The supplementary benefits for living at home are to be paid to AHV pensioners and recipients of IV pensions.
Depending on requirements, the costs of domestic help, meal services, transportation services, companionship and an emergency call system will be covered.
