Residents and organizations in the south of Lebanon have apparently been ordered to evacuate by the Israeli side.

Civil Defense employees in the towns of Jawjah and Basurijeh left the area as a result, as they confirmed to the German Press Agency. They also told local media that they had received calls and text messages from foreign numbers. The civil defense will continue its work in the south, however.

An Israeli army spokesman warned residents in the south of Lebanon in a message on X in Arabic: "The attacks will begin in the near future." They should leave houses in which Hezbollah had hidden weapons.

Residents had also received corresponding messages "from Israelis" on Monday morning, reported the newspaper "L'Orient Le Jour". They had been asked to "move away from villages in whose buildings Hezbollah weapons are stored until further notice".

A local resident told dpa that her parents were preparing to leave the area around Tyre and head for the capital Beirut. People in the southern coastal city had received calls and text messages.

One resident told "L'Orient Le Jour" that she had received three such text messages in the morning. In her opinion, these were "threats and psychological warfare" that should not be taken seriously. She wants to stay in her house - "no matter what happens".
