According to the Moscow military report, Ukrainian attempts to advance deep into the Kursk region were repelled with aircraft and artillery. Since the beginning of the Ukrainian attack on Tuesday, Kiev's troops had lost up to 945 soldiers and 102 pieces of armored equipment, including 12 tanks. There was also talk of Western military technology. For example, five US Stryker wheeled infantry fighting vehicles were destroyed.
There was no mention of German technology in the bulletin. The Russian military information cannot be independently verified. According to the ministry, there was fighting in several settlements in the Kursk region, including in the western part of the city of Sudzha.
Within 24 hours alone, the Ukrainian armed forces had lost 280 men and 27 units of equipment. There was no official information on the losses on the Russian side, but military bloggers confirmed the deaths of many soldiers.
Ministry: Destruction of Ukrainian troops continues
According to the ministry, Russia also launched air and missile strikes on the neighboring Ukrainian region of Sumy. "The operation to destroy groups of the Ukrainian armed forces will continue," the ministry announced.
In Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi had said in view of the advance in the Kursk region that Russia should now feel the war itself. However, Kiev has not yet commented on the details of the attack.
Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian war of aggression for almost two and a half years and has repeatedly attacked the neighboring state with drones and missiles as part of its defensive campaign. This is the first time there has been a major ground operation by regular troops, as is currently the case in Kursk.
