A carelessly discarded sex doll has caused a major police and fire department operation in the German state of Bavaria. A pedestrian had noticed a lifeless body in a pond in Pödeldorf in Upper Franconia and alerted the emergency services, according to the Bamberg police station on Saturday.
The emergency services, police and fire department arrived with a large contingent - but were quickly able to give the all-clear.
"The exposed body, which was floating belly down in the water, was a disposed of, lifelike-looking love doll," the police statement said.
The background to the incident remained unclear - but prompted the police press office to speculate: "It remains uncertain whether it broke the heart of its unknown previous owner and he therefore parted with his precious piece," the statement said. In any case, the fire department "took care of its proper disposal", it added.
