The spectator killed during a campaign appearance by former US President Donald Trump in the state of Pennsylvania was a firefighter and family man. This was announced by the Democratic governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, who said he had spoken to his wife and daughters. The man had "died a hero" and had bent over his family in protection when the shots were fired at the Trump rally. He was an "enthusiastic supporter" of Trump.

At the rally in the small town of Butler in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening (local time), a man shot at the Republican presidential candidate; Trump was injured in the ear. The 20-year-old perpetrator was killed. In addition to the one man in the audience who was killed, two other spectators were injured. Shapiro said her condition remained critical.
