Sudanese security authorities have ordered all foreigners in the state of Khartoum to leave the capital and the surrounding region. They have two weeks to do so, according to a statement from the foreigners' police.

In view of the ongoing fighting between government troops and the RSF militia, foreigners should seek safety.

According to media reports, hostility towards foreigners from other African countries in particular has been on the rise since reports of foreign mercenaries in the ranks of the RSF. Only a few days ago, more than 150 foreigners were arrested who did not have valid residence papers.

A bloody power struggle has been raging in Sudan for more than a year between de facto ruler Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his former deputy Mohamed Hamdan Daglo. According to the UN, the conflict has caused almost ten million people to flee their homes. The United Nations warns of an impending famine.

International aid workers and diplomats still in the country left Khartoum after the fighting broke out and are now working from Port Sudan, where the situation is comparatively stable.
