At least eleven people have been killed in a suicide attack in a café on the grounds of the police academy in the Somali capital Mogadishu, according to police reports. The Islamist terrorist militia Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack. According to initial findings, the victims are mainly police officers.

The Al-Shabaab terrorist militia, which wants to establish an Islamist state in the country in the Horn of Africa, has been attacking security forces and the military for years, as well as politicians, journalists and representatives of civil society, who it sees as embodying Western values.
