The judge ordered the release of the two seasonal workers on Monday evening. The 59-year-old Egyptian pizza chef and the 48-year-old Italian waiter had tried to help someone who was unconscious in a thoughtless manner, the judge explained.

According to the police, the two men had found the 27-year-old Swiss tourist a week ago Monday afternoon on a street in the seaside resort of Cattolica. According to media reports, she was confused and foaming at the mouth. The men called the emergency services.

Woman cannot remember what happened

As the emergency services were delayed, the two men took the woman to a hotel room, undressed her and put her in the shower.

The young woman, who was on vacation on the Riviera with her boyfriend, was unable to remember what had happened, Ansa reported. This was because she had been under the influence of drugs, medication and alcohol.

The public prosecutor's office had the men arrested on suspicion of raping a tourist who was drunk and under the influence of drugs following a report by the health staff who had examined the woman.
