According to the authorities, 4.4 tons of cocaine have been seized during a raid in Guyana, South America. The drugs were to be transported to Europe by ship.

The drugs, worth the equivalent of around 181 million euros, were discovered in a town near the border with Venezuela, explained James Singh, head of the anti-drug unit of Guyana's customs authorities.

Two guns were also found. No arrests were made. According to customs, the cocaine had been stored in underground stashes near an illegal airstrip.
