Festivals Lucerne city festival largely peaceful according to police

According to the police, the two-day Lucerne City Festival was largely peaceful. According to the organizers, around 50,000 visitors attended the festival, Lucerne police announced on Sunday. That is 20,000 fewer than last year.

The police carried out a total of 43 identity checks and provisionally arrested four men and one woman. They were arrested for obstructing an official act, violence and threats and violating the Aliens Act. The police took a very drunk 44-year-old man into custody after he waved a knife around on Theaterplatz. No one was injured.

The police also cleared up numerous incipient disputes "at the outset", they added.
