A fire broke out in Bulle on Tuesday night. Two people died and around 20 were injured.

Shortly before 2.30 a.m. on Tuesday, the Operations and Alarm Center (EAZ) was informed of a fire on Rue de Vevey in Bulle, which was quickly brought under control by the officers deployed in collaboration with the fire departments from the Bulle, Vaulruz and Marsens bases.

Heavy smoke had spread through buildings 233 to 219. Unfortunately, a 52-year-old man and his 13-year-old daughter died of carbon monoxide poisoning. A 48-year-old woman was flown to hospital by Rega helicopter.

Around 20 people also suffered poisoning and were taken to hospital by ambulance. Around 90 people were evacuated and following this incident, the mobile team for psychosocial emergencies (EMUPS) was called in to look after the evacuees.

Fire broke out in underground parking garage

Following a decision by the mayor of the Gruyère district and the city administrator, the residents are being accommodated with friends and temporarily in hotels in the region. Rue de Vevey will be closed indefinitely for the rest of the operation.

The source of the fire was located in the underground garage of the building. In total, there were around 60 vehicles in the underground garage that were damaged. The exact cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
