A 50-year-old man died in an accident at a pedestrian crossing in Escholzmatt-Marbach LU on Friday. According to the police, the man was hit by a tractor-trailer. The public prosecutor's office is investigating the cause of the collision.

The 50-year-old died at the scene of the accident, as reported by the Lucerne cantonal police on Saturday. The main road was closed for around two and a half hours.

Traffic was diverted locally by members of the Escholzmatt-Marbach fire department. In addition to a rescue helicopter and the 144 ambulance service, members of the emergency pastoral care/care team were also deployed. The investigation is being conducted by the Sursee public prosecutor's office.
