  • Influencer Andrew Tate, accused of rape and human trafficking in Romania, is allowed to leave the country until his trial.
  • A court in Bucharest has eased travel restrictions.
  • Because Tate was accused of misogynistic views and hate speech, he was banned from various social media platforms.

Following the decision, Tate wrote on the social media platform X: "I am free. For the first time in three years I can leave Romania. The sham trial is falling apart." One of his lawyers, Eugen Vidineac, welcomed the decision. It was due to his client's exemplary behavior and cooperation. Tate and his brother, who is also accused, are determined to clear their names and reputations.

The court in Bucharest admitted the case against Tate on April 26, but did not set a date for the start of the trial. Tate was arrested near Bucharest at the end of 2022 together with his brother and two Romanian women. He was charged in June last year. All four deny the allegations.

Former professional kickboxer Tate has lived in Romania since 2017. He has more than six million followers on the X platform, including many young men and schoolchildren. Because he was accused of misogynistic views and hate speech, he was banned from various social media platforms.
