On Sunday night, a motorist drove off the road in Rufi in the canton of St. Gallen and crashed into a stable. Seriously injured, the 25-year-old had to be flown to hospital by Rega air ambulance.

As the St. Gallen cantonal police announced on Sunday, the man was classified as unfit to drive. The police ordered a blood and urine sample to be taken. His driver's license was also confiscated.

The 25-year-old had been driving on Gastermattstrasse from Schänis in the direction of Benken. Before the car crashed into the barn, it hit several fence posts on the left-hand side of the road.
