37 non-profit apartments for young and old are to be built in the Reussbühl district of Lucerne. The city council wants to hand over an area in Staffelntäli to the housing cooperative Dorfstadt Luzern and the municipal nursing home operator Viva Luzern AG under building rights.

The plot is 1900 square meters in size and is located in the Ruopigen district. As the city announced on Tuesday, it put the site out to tender in May 2023. From three applications, it decided in favor of the concept submitted by Dorfstadt Luzern and Viva Luzern AG. This is described as "visionary" in the press release.

The plans include 37 apartments for different age groups. Synergies with the Staffelnhof retirement home operated by Viva Luzern AG are also to be exploited. The development is to be built in a car-friendly and sustainable way.

It remains to be seen whether the City Council or the Grand City Council will decide on the sale of the site under building rights. An architectural competition is to be held for the development. The Staffelntäli site also needs to be rezoned for the development.
