The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has taken over the investigation into the explosion in an underground parking garage in Nussbaumen AG from the public prosecutor's office in Baden AG. Two men died in the explosion of powerful fireworks there on June 13.

According to a report on the portal of the "Aargauer Zeitung" newspaper, the public prosecutor's office cited its jurisdiction for explosives offenses as the reason. In a statement, which is also available to the Keystone-SDA news agency, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland writes: "The preliminary evaluations indicate completely unintentional misconduct with the dangerous substances".

According to the statement, criminal proceedings are underway against one person for multiple violations of the Explosives Act, multiple negligent homicides and endangering others with explosives and toxic gases without criminal intent.

A 24-year-old Swiss national and a 43-year-old Italian died in the explosion. Eleven people suffered minor injuries and there was extensive damage to property.
