The SRG ombudsman's office has dealt with a complaint from the government of Schaffhausen against two reports in the "Rundschau" about the work of the law enforcement authorities in the canton. The ombudsman's office considers the reports to be admissible overall - despite some harsh criticism.

The Schaffhausen cantonal council objected to numerous points in the reports broadcast by "Rundschau" at the end of May. The ombudsman's office published an almost 60-page final report on the complaint.

Last week's report clearly criticized individual passages in the reports, in one case even classifying them as "journalistically highly questionable". Nevertheless, the ombudsman's office came to the conclusion that the program complied with the legal framework.

The Schaffhausen cantonal council can refer the complaint to the Independent Complaints Authority for Radio and Television (UBI). The reports concerned the case of a 43-year-old woman from Schaffhausen who was beaten up by men in an apartment in December 2021. This led to criticism of the police work.
