The repair work on the A13 through the Misox, which was damaged by a storm, is progressing rapidly. As was announced on Friday, the A13 should be partially reopened as early as July 5.
Traffic will then be able to travel on the A13 again at a maximum speed of 60 to 80 km/h in two-way traffic. The conditions for this are a continued smooth construction process and stable weather conditions.
The road was previously scheduled to reopen on July 10. However, two lanes of the A13 will not be open to traffic again until the end of the year.
The excavators are currently working at their limits in the Moesa river, explained Marco Fioroni, head of the Astra branch in Bellinzona, during an inspection of the construction site near Lostallo GR.
After some boulders had been blasted, they had to be removed in the raging water. At the same time, material would be filled in where the roadway had been torn away.
During a storm, the Moesa near Lostallo washed out the A13 national road and tore away 200 meters of the carriageway. The San Bernardino route has been closed ever since.
