The BKA in Austria wanted to expose a counterfeit money dealer on the Darknet and ordered goods from him. But a postman steals the parcel intended for the police.

No time? blue News summarizes for you

  • Bored, a young man orders counterfeit money on the Darknet. The parcel gets stuck at customs.
  • To expose the dealer, the police also order counterfeit money from the same dealer. This parcel doesn't arrive either.
  • A postman has stolen it. He now has a complaint in his letterbox.

When parcels don't reach the recipient, there are usually boring reasons behind it, such as a wrong address or because it was delivered to a neighbor without notification. In one incident in Austria, however, two parcels containing counterfeit money were involved, both of which did not arrive for completely different reasons.

The first parcel full of flowers was supposed to go to a young man who ordered counterfeit money on the Darknet out of sheer curiosity, reports the "Kronenzeitung" newspaper. A dealer with good ratings offered him 30 20-franc notes and 30 50-franc notes for just 350 francs. A bargain.

But the package got stuck at customs, thanks to the fine noses of the sniffer dogs. Instead, officers from the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) are soon at the young man's door. He shows remorse for his crime and cooperates with the police.

In order to expose the dealer on the Darknet, the police officers also order counterfeit money from him online. But this package does not arrive either.

A letter carrier from Vienna had stupidly stolen the same parcel. He received a police report, whereas the young man got off with a year's probation due to his "well-groomed, polite and remorseful demeanor".
