On Friday morning, the line between Effretikon ZH and Winterthur was initially completely disrupted. According to SBB, an S-Bahn train had damaged an overhead line on Friday morning. A following freight train then pulled it down.

Both commuter trains and long-distance services between Zurich and St. Gallen were affected by the restrictions. However, SBB announced delays and individual train service cancellations for Friday evening on the X online portal.
