The municipalities of Nidwalden achieved a total operating result of CHF 9.5 million last year. This is well above expectations.

Compared to the budgets, the municipalities achieved an improvement of CHF 17.8 million - mainly due to higher income from net taxes and property gains tax as well as lower expenses, as detailed in a press release issued by the Nidwalden Finance Directorate on Thursday.

The municipality of Stans recorded a significant decrease of CHF 4.3 million compared to the 2022 accounts, while Stansstad and Wolfenschiessen recorded the largest positive changes.

The municipalities' equity rose by CHF 9 million to CHF 304.3 million. Net investments amounted to CHF 33.5 million, which was 6.7% below the previous year and CHF 15.1 million below the budget. The self-financing ratio is 101.2 percent. The average level of debt is CHF 757 per person. This is CHF 11 less than in the 2022 financial year.
