The State Chancellery announced on Monday that the residents' registration offices can now access the civil status register directly. As a result, the obligation to deposit the certificate of origin with the residents' registration office, which is enshrined in the law, could be dispensed with.
In addition, other concerns of the residents' registration offices have been taken into account in the draft, according to the statement. Municipalities should be allowed to record residents' telephone numbers and e-mail addresses if they agree.
Furthermore, the third-party registration requirement for heads of collective households is to be extended. Legal clarification is also needed for people who only live in the municipality of residence but are domiciled abroad.
