According to its President Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukraine is a big step closer to joining the EU. "The European Union has approved the negotiating framework for Ukraine - many have fought for it at various levels," said Zelenskyi in his daily video address on Friday. This means that negotiations can now actually begin. This is a "significant success".

According to Zelensky, Kiev has already formed a negotiating delegation for the accession talks. The head of state expressed his conviction that the negotiations would be successful. "Ukraine is and will remain a part of a united Europe," he said. He also congratulated the neighboring country of Moldova, with which the EU also wants to start accession negotiations next week.

He also congratulated and thanked the Ukrainian national team, which had beaten Slovakia 2:1 a few hours earlier in the second group match of the European Championship after falling behind early. The victory was an encouragement for the whole nation, said Selenskyj. The national team had shown: If the Ukrainians make an effort, they can beat anyone.

On the front line, however, things remain difficult according to Selenskyj. While the situation in the Kharkiv region, where the Russians launched their most recent offensive, has stabilized, things remain difficult in the Donetsk region. Zelenskyi specifically mentioned the Pokrovsk region, where the Russian military is launching dozens of attacks every day.
