A head-on collision occurred on the cantonal road between Küssnacht and Greppen LU on Sunday. Three cars were involved, according to the Lucerne cantonal police.
A driver was driving on the cantonal road from Küssnacht towards Greppen on Sunday. In the Breitenacher area, the car veered into the oncoming lane on a left-hand bend for reasons that are still unclear, resulting in a head-on collision with two oncoming cars.
The female passenger was seriously injured in the accident. The driver and the four occupants of the other two cars were also injured. The driver of the first oncoming car had to be freed from the vehicle by the fire department.
All the injured were taken to various hospitals by rescue helicopters or ambulances from the 144 ambulance service. The cantonal road between Greppen and Küssnacht was closed for around four hours due to the accident and the subsequent rescue, recovery and cleaning work.
The damage to property amounted to around 130,000 Swiss francs.
