Six people were injured in a head-on collision between two cars in Langenthal on Saturday evening. One child was seriously injured and flown to hospital by helicopter.

Three people were slightly injured, according to the Bern cantonal police on Sunday. Two other people also suffered injuries. All five of the injured were taken to hospital by an ambulance team. The accident occurred shortly after 6 p.m. on Melchnaustrasse.

According to initial findings, a driver was traveling from Lotzwil towards Langenthal when he collided head-on with an oncoming car for reasons still to be clarified.

Following the accident, Melchnaustrasse was closed for around four hours from the "Neuhof" bus stop during the rescue and accident work. A local detour was set up. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
