The sailboat that sank in Lake Zug in Oberwil ZG on Saturday was discovered at a depth of 80 meters at the bottom of the lake. A male person was also located there.

The boat had sunk on Saturday afternoon during a regatta. Two men were rescued, but a 56-year-old man had been missing ever since.

As the Zug criminal investigation authorities announced on Monday, the boat and the man were located at a depth of 80 meters at the bottom of the lake. They were discovered by the fire department of the city of Zug and the Zug lake police using a sonar device. Thanks to a diving robot, the Zurich cantonal police were then able to confirm that it was the boat they were looking for and a male person.

The criminal investigation authorities announced that preparations are now being made for the recovery. This is a challenging task due to the depth of the lake.
