On Sunday morning, a Lucerne police patrol wanted to check on a suspicious man in the city of Lucerne. The man behaved conspicuously after noticing the officers, as the Lucerne police reported in a press release.
The police suspected a narcotics offense. Despite requests from the police, the suspect did not stop and jumped into the Reuss near the St. Karlibrücke bridge, which currently has a strong current and is carrying a lot of water.
The Lucerne police immediately launched a search operation lasting several hours using rescue helicopters, water police boats and the 144 rescue service. To date, the missing man has not been found.
