On Tuesday, May 21, shortly before 2.45 a.m., a semi-stationary measuring system on Churerstrasse recorded a speeding driver driving at 109 km/h instead of the permitted speed limit of 50 km/h in a built-up area. The public prosecutor's office of the Canton of St.Gallen then opened criminal proceedings and commissioned the St.Gallen cantonal police to investigate the driver responsible.
The investigation has now been completed. They led to an Italian resident in the canton of St. Gallen. According to current findings, he stole his mother's car during the night and drove it without a driver's license. The 18-year-old will be reported to the public prosecutor's office of the canton of St. Gallen.
