  • A man from the canton of Aargau tested positive for drugs while driving.
  • As a result, he lost his driver's license.
  • Nevertheless, he was later caught driving again.
  • This will now be expensive.

In November 2023, a 21-year-old man from Aarau got into legal trouble when he was stopped by the Aargau cantonal police on Mühlemattstrasse. Suspicion of drug use led to a drugwipe test, which reacted positively to cannabis and cocaine, according to a penalty order issued by the Aargau public prosecutor's office.

A more precise determination of the substances through blood and urine tests was not possible because the man refused to undergo such tests - although he admitted to having consumed cannabis shortly beforehand. In addition, his probationary driving license was missing, as reported by "Argovia Today". As a result, his license was revoked indefinitely.

Six months later, in April 2024, he was caught again by the police, this time in Oberentfelden. During this check, it turned out that he was now driving without a valid driver's license and was also driving a stolen vehicle.

Pay up - or go to prison

The rightful owner of the vehicle had no idea that the 21-year-old was driving it. The young man had taken the keys unnoticed and driven it to the Coop petrol station.

For his actions, he now received a conditional fine of 90 daily rates of CHF 40 each with a probation period of two years as well as a fine of CHF 1,000, which he would have to serve in prison for 25 days if he did not pay. He will also have to pay costs and fees of 1160 francs. The sentence will also be entered in his criminal record.
