The cities of Aarau and Baden in the canton of Aargau have each acquired a 50,000 Swiss franc stake in the share capital of Park Innovaare in Villigen AG. According to their own statements, the cities want to get involved in advising companies and in the network meetings.

The city presidents of Aarau and Baden, Hanspeter Hilfiker and Markus Schneider, signed a corresponding agreement with the operating company Switzerland Innovation Park Innovaare AG, as announced by all three parties on Thursday.

The agreement covers the coordinated consultation of companies that are made aware of the economic region through Park Innovaare and could be interested in settling in Aarau and Baden.

In June, the city parliaments of Aarau and Baden approved the investment of CHF 50,000 each in the share capital totaling CHF 2.4 million.

Strategy of the economic centers

The participation of the cities in the operating company supports the strategic goals of both cities and enables the concerns of the economic centers to be bundled, it was said.

The Innovation Park at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Villigen and Würenlingen is one of six parks of the corresponding Swiss umbrella organization that promotes the exchange between science and industry.

According to its own statements, the Innovation Park aims to become a globally recognized center where innovations based on the PSI's large-scale research facilities and expertise are driven forward together with companies. Innovaare AG was founded in 2015.
