  • A few days ago, British Airways passengers sat on a plane for 11 hours - and ended up getting off at exactly the same place.
  • Many things also go wrong with the replacement flight.

British Airways flight BA31 was originally scheduled to fly to Hong Kong on June 29, but after 11 hours in the air, the plane landed back at London Heathrow.

The Boeing 777 took off from London at 8.55 p.m., as reported bytheBritish newspaper "The Independent". The flight initially went smoothly, but the pilots changed the route over Turkmenistan and returned to London.

"The flight returned to London Heathrow as a precautionary measure due to a minor technical issue," the airline told The Independent. After more than 11 hours, the plane landed back in London.

Problems on the next attempt too

British Airways assured that the plane was able to land safely in London and that all passengers were well. "We have apologized to our customers for the disruption to their journey," the airline added.

On the next attempt to fly to Hong Kong, there were again problems. After three hours in the air, the flight had to be diverted to Budapest due to a medical emergency on board.

One day later, the passengers were finally transported onwards. They reached Hong Kong on the evening of July 1 - around two days after the original departure.
