Traffic accident Car overturns on the highway in St. Gallen

On Tuesday evening at 7.35 pm, a car overturned after a collision with a delivery van in a highway tunnel in St. Gallen. The 54-year-old driver was taken to hospital with unspecified injuries.

The 31-year-old driver of the van nodded off while driving in the overtaking lane, wrote the St. Gallen cantonal police in a statement on Wednesday. His vehicle drifted into the normal lane and crashed into the rear of the 54-year-old's car.

The collision caused the van to spin, causing it to crash into the 54-year-old's car again. The car overturned and came to a standstill on its roof.

During the accident investigation, it emerged that the driver of the van was not in possession of a driver's license, according to the press release. He was reported to the public prosecutor's office of the canton of St.Gallen.
