She is undergoing medical treatment, Wertli wrote in a communiqué. "My health and recovery are now my top priority", Wertli said. She is aware that the treatment will take time and energy.
She received the diagnosis in July, Wertli wrote on her blog. "I am confident that I will win the battle against the disease."
Wertli is continuing her election campaign as planned, the press release continued. However, she expects to reduce her physical presence at events somewhat depending on how her treatment progresses. Her interest in the municipal council seat she is seeking remains unchanged.
Wertli is 48 years old and the leader of the parliamentary group as well as a city councillor for Mitte Stadt Bern. In November, she is running for a seat in Bern's city government for the electoral alliance "Meh Farb für Bärn".
