A 21-year-old man drove off the road near Neuendorf SO late on Friday evening and then crashed into several trees. The man was seriously injured and flown to hospital by helicopter, according to the Solothurn cantonal police.

The accident was reported to the Solothurn cantonal police shortly after 10.35 p.m. on Friday. According to initial police findings, the young man was driving in the direction of Fulenbach SO when, for reasons still unknown on Saturday, he veered off the road to the left.

After the subsequent collision with several trees, the car came to a standstill lying on its roof. The seriously injured man had to be freed from the car by the fire department. The Fulenbacherstrasse was subsequently closed until around 03:00. The car, which was a total loss, had to be recovered with a crane. The police are investigating the circumstances and cause of the accident.
