Following an accident involving three vehicles, the Seedamm near Rapperswil-Jona SG was closed in both directions for around two hours on Thursday afternoon. According to the police, a man and a woman were injured and taken to hospital by the ambulance service. Property damage amounting to several tens of thousands of francs was caused.

A 45-year-old man was driving a delivery van from Pfäffikon SZ towards Rapperswil at 2.30 p.m. and braked his vehicle too late in front of a stationary convoy, as reported by the St. Gallen cantonal police on Thursday. His van crashed into the car of a 48-year-old man and veered into the oncoming lane. There, the van collided with the car of a 66-year-old woman driving in the opposite direction.

The 45-year-old man was slightly injured in the accident. The 66-year-old woman suffered undetermined injuries, the police added.
