Crime Man seriously injured in Basel - suspected perpetrator arrested

A 42-year-old man was seriously injured in a violent altercation in Basel on Thursday evening. The police arrested the alleged perpetrator nearby. He is said to have hit the victim on the head with a "dangerous object", as the public prosecutor's office announced on Friday.

According to the findings of the criminal investigation department so far, there was an altercation between the 42-year-old man from Poland and two companions in Mülhauserstrasse at 7.45 pm.

One of the companions, a 67-year-old Ukrainian, knocked the man to the ground and then seriously injured him, according to the statement. The victim was taken to the emergency department by paramedics.
