Traffic accident Motorcyclist seriously injured in collision

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision with another motorcyclist between Furkapass and Realp on Tuesday. According to information from the Uri cantonal police, the second man was only slightly injured.

The accident occurred on Tuesday morning shortly before 10.30 a.m. when a 62-year-old motorcyclist with a British license plate was coming from the Furka Pass in the direction of Realp.

When a 61-year-old motorcyclist in front of him, also with a British license plate, wanted to turn left into a parking lot and reduced his speed, a collision occurred.

The 61-year-old man was seriously injured in the accident, the police report. His motorcycle left the road in the accident and only came to a standstill around 20 meters further down on the meadow. The 62-year-old man also fell, but only suffered minor injuries.

Both drivers were taken to the cantonal hospital in Altdorf for a check-up by the Uri rescue service. The damage to property amounted to around 2,500 francs.
