The park between Frutigenstrasse and Seefeldstrasse in the city of Thun will be planted and redesigned this fall. From its opening in November, the newly created open space will be known as "Elisabeth Müller Park", as announced by the city of Thun on Friday.

"The municipal council wants to honor the work of women and make it more visible," said councillor Andrea de Meuron (Greens) in the communiqué.

Elisabeth Müller (1885-1977) ran a private school in Thun and worked as a methodology teacher at the teacher training college, as the city of Thun went on to write. From 1935, she lived as a writer in Hünibach and became well known for her book "Die sechs Kammerbuben".

According to the press release, construction work will begin on September 16. In addition to habitats for plants and animals, there will also be places to sit and relax. The future Elisabeth Müller Park has been used as an installation area for construction work in recent years.
