The 83-year-old driver and her 79-year-old passenger died in a car accident in Orsières in the canton of Valais on Friday evening. The car left the road on a bend and rolled down an embankment.
The car overturned several times, as reported by the Valais cantonal police on Saturday. The two occupants were killed instantly. They were two Swiss nationals.
The accident occurred at around 10.45 p.m. in the municipality bordering France and Italy, in the upper part of the village of Chamoille. According to the police, the vehicle left the road on a sharp right-hand bend for unknown reasons. The car ended up lying on its side after the accident.
The public prosecutor's office launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
