According to media reports and local authorities, at least ten passengers have died in a devastating fire on a school bus in Thailand. The 38 pupils and their six companions had been on a trip from the province of Uthan Thani to Bangkok, 200 kilometers to the southeast.

This was reported by ThaiPBC World, citing the rescue services.

Only 19 people were rescued alive from the double-decker bus and taken to hospitals, it said. The death toll could therefore rise. Eyewitnesses reported an explosion in the bus, after which it burst into flames. Videos circulated on the internet showed it burning brightly. It is still unclear what caused the accident.
