One of the world's most active volcanoes has been rumbling for days. Stromboli, which is more than 920 meters high, already spews out small amounts of lava several times an hour. However, for the past few days, parts of the volcanic cone have been collapsing and cascading down into the Mediterranean.
The authorities have called on the population to keep a close eye on the situation and to follow the instructions of the civil defense. The IGNV, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, had previously detected an unexpected increase in activity.
