Residents in the Zurich district of Höngg currently have to do without hot water. Damage to the district heating pipe has cut the neighborhood off from the district heating network.
A resident toldBlickthat hot water has not been available since Wednesday evening. "The entire neighborhood is currently disconnected from the district heating network," he explains.
The incident is explained in more detail on a website set up by the city of Zurich. According to the website, a main district heating pipe was damaged by a drilling rig during construction work on Wednesday, June 19. The City of Zurich is working intensively on measures to bridge the gap and restore the heat supply.
The heat supply can be restored from Monday at the earliest. Until then, all buildings connected to the Höngg energy network will be without a heating and hot water supply.
The cause of the outage is civil engineering work in Winzerhalde, as can be read on a notice from the City of Zurich hanging on the door of an affected resident. It is currently unclear how many people are affected by the damage.
