The Zurich cantonal police have applied for an entry ban against a prominent right-wing extremist from Austria, Martin Sellner. "Junge Tat" announced on social media that Sellner would be giving a lecture in the canton of Zurich in October.

A media spokesperson for the Zurich cantonal police confirmed the requested entry ban on Tuesday at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. The "Tages-Anzeiger" had initially reported on this.
The Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) confirmed the Zurich cantonal police's application on request. A spokesperson said that this would be examined. However, he was unable to provide any further information at present, partly due to official secrecy and the protection of privacy.
The organization "Junge Tat", which is considered right-wing extremist, had announced on Platform X: "Sellner is coming to the canton of Zurich!" The lecture will take place on October 19 in the canton of Zurich.
Lecture in Tegerfelden AG prevented
Such a lecture had already been planned in Tegerfelden AG last March, but the Aargau cantonal police prevented it from taking place. They intervened because they felt that public safety was not guaranteed.
At the time, the Zurich police force had also asked Fedpol to ban Sellner from entering the country. However, the federal government "regrettably" refrained from imposing an entry ban in good time, Zurich's security director Mario Fehr (non-party) was quoted as saying by the Tamedia newspapers.
Fedpol stated at the time: "Radical or extreme views alone are not sufficient grounds for a threat to internal or external security or to justify preventive police measures."
Martin Sellner is the former head of the Identitarian movement in Austria. He talks about "remigration", meaning that a large number of people of foreign origin should leave Germany, for example - even under duress.
