557 days after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee again, Aline Danioth returns to the snow to race. She finishes 3rd in the Cerro Castor slalom.
After Thursday's race, which counts towards the South American Cup, the 26-year-old posted a picture on Instagram and wrote below it: "I don't know how to explain the emotions I felt." The last 18 months have been anything but easy, she said. "But yesterday gave me so much clarity that working on this comeback was the best decision I could have made."
Danioth tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her right knee at the beginning of March 2023, two weeks after her 6th place in the World Championship slalom in Méribel. It was the sixth serious injury for the athlete from Uri and the fourth time the cruciate ligament was affected.
